You’ve heard of UI/UX, now here comes UL. UL or Urban logistics is the new name that groups together the many fragments of goods transportation within a city. It may not sound sexy, but it touches your lives in more ways than you think.
So what is exactly is urban logistics?
What comes to your mind when you hear the word logistics? Raw materials to a manufacturer? Cement being delivered to a construction site or your post being delivered to your house? While all this definitely constitute the fabric of UL, there are so many other transactions that happen over the day that are part of UL too.
Here are some use cases that you might not have thought of : Your new phone being delivered to your house from an e-commerce chain, that dress you are returning to your friend, that extra mattress that your friend needs because she has visitors, the IKEA merchandise that wouldn’t fit in your car/taxi, the food you are getting delivered to your home because you were too lazy to get out and even the homework that your son forgot and you had it sent to his school in time, before his teacher caught him!
