GoGoX supports enhanced protections for platform workers and reaffirms commitment to driver welfare
GoGoX Spotlight, Logistics Partners, Newsroom, Notice & Events, Press ReleaseGoGoX supports the newly passed bill on 10 September, which aims to strengthen protections for platform workers. The bill recognises ride-hail and delivery gig workers as a distinct labour class and provides statutory protection from 1 January 2025. We thank the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) for including GoGoX in the core Advisory Committee since this process begins in 2021. These measures are essential for fostering a fair and supportive working environment for our driver-partners.
Taking care of our driver-partners
At our core, we put people first, including helping our driver-partners to live better. Since 2023, GoGoX has been providing insurance coverage for all our driver-partners. In January 2024, we also announced our collaboration with NTUC and National Delivery Champions Association (NDCA) to provide training incentives for drivers who wish to up-skill. Both initiatives align with the new legislation, which introduces greater financial protections through CPF contributions.
Transparency and fairness
As the new bill takes effect, GoGoX remains focused on managing the associated costs thoughtfully. We will carefully monitor the impact of these costs on our operations and make fair and transparent adjustments to pricing if and when necessary. Our aim is to balance the financial implications while ensuring that any changes do not unduly burden our customers.
Platform readiness
On the technology front, we have been working to incorporate necessary updates to the platform for CPF contributions to ensure a smooth transition for driver-partners who choose to opt in. We also want to state categorically that there will be no discriminatory algorithm in place to favour driver-partners who opt out. Such an approach would be a fundamental violation of our value system, which is centred on caring for our partners.
Understanding driver-partners’ concerns
Throughout the process, we have actively engaged with our driver-partners to ensure their voices are heard. While the majority have not yet made a decision about the CPF scheme, they recognise the good intention of the new bill to better protect their rights. We acknowledge their apprehension and will work with government agencies to provide clear information to help our driver-partners make informed choices.
GoGoX is committed to fair compensation and responsible adaptation. We will continue to engage with stakeholders to navigate these regulatory changes effectively while upholding the sustainability and well-being of our platform and driver-partners.
